CHRIST WILL SHINE ON YOU

Ephesians 5:13-14 ESV
"But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.""

In the summer of 2018, as I found myself once again reading through the book of Ephesians, these verses caught my attention and my heart in a fresh way. They have become a consistent reminder to ask God, "What in my life needs to be exposed by The Light? What needs to be made visible so that The Light shines for others?"

Light. What can not initially be seen becomes visible when light is brought into dark places. When light is allowed in, those spaces begin to shine.

But how do we do this? How do we let the light in? A good starting place, I have found, is this: praying the words David wrote in Psalm 139:23-24 (CSB), "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way."

Next, taking time to listen to Holy Spirit's prompting of what is found. Taking notice of what God is shining The Light on in the dark corners of our hearts. To let Jesus remove from our life that which is not allowing us to live in The Light.

However, we don't have to stop there. We can take what is now visible and use it in a way that allows The Light, Christ in us, to shine brightly. When we acknowledge our own sin, shame, or struggles and expose them to The Light, they become visible, but they also become a light for Him. He can use our unseen darkness, turned visible light, to show others His way of living in The Light.

So arise & shine! Let's let the light in so that we can let it out for those around us.

For His Glory,

What in my life is God making visible so that I can live more in the light?
