Nominating candidates for the office of presbyter is both a privilege and sacred responsibility for credential holders in the AGK. Presbyters serve as spiritual elders within the Network , working alongside the executives to form the Network board and fulfill by-law responsibilities.
As you prayerfully consider your nomination, seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in identifying individuals who:

  • Exhibit a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus

  • Are spirit-led in their ministry and decision-making

  • Walk in the wisdom of God

  • Have proven record of effective and faithful ministry leadership

The opportunity to submit a resolution and nominate qualified ministers for regional presbyter is now open! You will nominate one individual from the region in which you reside. Eligible individuals receiving two or more nominating votes will appear on the electoral ballot as candidates for regional presbyter at Summit on April 30th. All credential holders and church delegates registered for The Summit, will vote for each open regional presbyter seat at that time. Your residence at that time, is not a factor in the electoral balloting process.

NOMINATIONS & ELECTIONS

  • Candidates for Regional Presbyter:

    • Are Ordained ministers with the AGK.

    • Are in “Active” ministry as identified on the annual renewal submitted to General Council.

    • Have current credentials with the AGK (renewed for the current year).

    • Have lived in Kansas and been credentialed with the AGK for at least one year. (The region they reside is the ONLY region they are eligible as a candidate. )

    • Have five years of Credentialed ministry experience.

  • Duties are outlined on pages 7-10 of the AGK Policy & Procedure Manual .

  • A candidate must receive at least two nominating votes to become a “Nominee” for Regional Presbyter. Only confirmed Nominees will appear on the electoral ballot in a Council Business session.

    What is the voting process like at Council (for any elected official)?

    Though nomination processes vary by office - all electoral ballots in a Council session are cast by secret ballot.
