More Than Before in Twenty-Twenty Four

Many of us will make promises to ourselves about “more” in 2024. We will express our intention for more discipline in our eating. We will vow to drink more water and take the stairs more often. We will state that we plan to call or see our parents more in 2024. Each of these represents a worthy goal with a beneficial outcome. However, all require more follow-through than most of us will invest.

In the remaining lines, I will not offer “four steps to a trimmer you” or how to win the “best son” award from your parent. Instead, I will point all of us toward the most attainable goal. We can have more of Jesus than ever before during 2024!

As a kid growing up, I remember singing the song: “I want more of Jesus, more, and more, and more… I want more of Jesus than I’ve ever had before… I want more of His great love – so rich, so full, so free! I want more of Jesus – so I’ll give Him more of me.” Since we already follow Jesus, I suggest “giving Him more of me” happens best in small increments.

  • If we read our Bible two or three times each week in 2023, then let’s read it four times each week – more than before in 2024. (The more we read it, the more it reads us!)

  • If we prayed once a week with our spouse in 2023, let’s pray two or three times a week with our spouse – more than before in 2024. (The more we pray together, the closer we grow to Him and each other!)

  • If we journaled once or twice a month in 2023, then journal three or four times per month – more than before in 2024! (The more we capture our private thoughts and prayers, the more we will look back on and see His faithfulness through the months and years!)

  • If we fasted and prayed in place of one meal each month, then let’s fast and pray in place of two or three meals each month – more than before in 2024! (Fasting doesn’t force God to move but readies us for when He does move!)

This incremental increase of giving more of us to Jesus in 2024 will prepare us for the significant changes we may face in 2024. If Jesus doesn’t return in 2024, of all the changes we may see unfold, we will for sure see a change in the role of AGK Superintendent. Therefore, I exhort all of us to pray more than before in 2024 for HIS leading to manifest when we gather to conduct the elections. The more we talk to HIM about this election, and the less we talk to each other about this election, the more He will speak to us and bring us into unity.

Do you want more of Jesus in 2024? In every area of my life, I certainly do!

Pastor Terry L. Yancey

STL DREAM DAY

The heart behind Dream Day is that youth groups would dedicate a service to dream and pray about what God would have them do for Speed the Light this year. We'd love if you'd do your Dream Day service with us on January 24th, but you can choose any day that works best for you! Our team has put together adaptable resources to provide you with everything you need to facilitate your Dream Day service. On the STL website you will find projector title and content slides, youth group goal posters, individual student goal cards, and social media graphics. There is also a fully recorded sermon from Pastor Josh, along with a sermon outline that can be used if you’d rather preach yourself. You will also get to hear about our 2024 projects and trust us, they’re awesome. We are looking forward to what God is going to do this year through Kansas students, leaders, and churches. Join us as we dream and believe for God to continue to do more than we could ever ask or imagine!

Defining Reality

Perhaps Max Dupree said it most memorably: “The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality.” Why?  Because before we can change what is we must know what is.

Believe it or not, that’s why the ACMR (Annual Church Ministries Report) exists.  The ACMR helps us understand better the kind of changes the Lord would like to bring.

Statistics may seem stationary.  Static.  Lifeless.  But collected and organized, statistics inform and instruct us.  They can help us understand the engagement and dis-engagement of the church, how the church thinks, and why the church responds in certain ways to certain issues. Research is an essential tool every pastor can use to understand needs and redirect pastoral energies toward a more effective church.

That same information aids the AGK Ministry Network as we work together to establish and strengthen Pentecostal leaders and churches.  When combined with statistics from across the fellowship, our entire movement benefits from the insights provided.  You’re tracking vital information:

·       Worship Service Attendance

·       Conversions

·       Water Baptisms

·       Spirit Baptisms

·       Membership

·       Ethnicity

That’s why completing your church’s ACMR is so important.  You help define what is … so we can move, together, toward what ought to be.  Complete your ACMR HERE

…before January 31st.  Questions?  Contact Melanie Robison at melanie@agkansas.com.

— Your ACMR is due by Tuesday, January 31, 2024 —
