  • CRISTO VIVE YOUTH STL Fundraiser

We were blessed to attend last year’s Speed the Light service at Youth Convention. When the time came to select an offering request for a missionary, we where hesitant because the amount was a lot for our group. Our youth group is small in size but big in heart. During January and February, we raised over $1,000! We did this by selling candy and organizing a Valentine's Day banquet. Parents and youth cooked, served and provided entertainment. Photos were also taken for an additional cost. This is the first year we are involved in Speed the Light. We know that God provides the means, including people, ideas and funds to do His Work.

  • STL Fundraiser-50th Wedding Anniversary

At VELOCITY we are all about Speed the Light! We have decided to dedicate every youth night to giving to STL instead of taking an offering for our own ministry. Our students have bought into this concept and compete against the other gender to complete their goals! Recently Pastor Darin and Marleen (KYM DYD’s) asked us to help serve food and drinks and clean up at Marleen’s parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. With STL money up for grabs I said yes right away, especially knowing that we have amazing students that want to finish the year off and get our goal of $2000. The week before the anniversary event we had raised $1500 in total for the year. Students showed up on time at LifePoint dressed in their black and white. We arrived at Wheat State Camp and the students went right to work and worked diligently until every person was served, every dish was cleaned and every extra piece of cake was eaten. Students are hard workers and just need a chance to show it. After what I saw in their passion to accomplish this task, I have such a positive outlook on this generation. I maybe didn’t expect enough before. We received $500 for doing this event for STL. When you put a goal out there God knows how it will come together. You can raise money in so many ways. Next year our goal is $5000 and we know God will provide our every need to succeed again.

  • STL Students Challenged

"This past Wednesday at REFLECT Student Ministries in Liberal, we had a service entirely centered around Speed the Light Service for our students. About 30-40 out of the 60 students had no idea what STL was about or what purposes it serves. As the night progressed, our students started to get more interested in STL. Before the close of the service, students came up with many creative ideas to raise mone: making bracelets, jewelry, doing nails, making stickers, fasting one meal a week, bringing the five dollars from that meal for STL, and many more ideas. To close the service, we purchased Pringles for every student and also supplied the STL can cover along with a poster. I challenged the students to fill the cans with spare change. At the end of the night, they committed in faith to give $15,000 for STL. They left accepting the challenge and ready to make a difference in missions!"

It's not about the money.  It's about the souls that can't be reached if money isn't given to help our missionaries.  We must store up for ourselves treasures in heaven.  Everything around us screams that the economy is terrible and that the world is in turmoil.  But God is in control.  Believe the report of Joshua and Caleb that we can do it together!
