A note from Sarah: Have you ever pondered the importance of small groups? The small group atmosphere enables individuals to be honest, real and encourages growth not only in the spiritual life of a believer but also in personal relationships. There are many facets of small group ministry and they can be effective in many different applications and settings. Over the next several weeks / months we will post a variety of ways churches are using small groups to effectively disciple people and grow friendships. The small group can be a place where people come together to fellowship, worship, pray, encourage each other, study God's word and form stronger relationships. Think of the verse in Matthew (18:20) "Wherever two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." I believe this applies to the small group setting. HE can show up, HE can change lives, HE can restore relationships and heal broken hearts, and this can all happen within the environment of a small group. There are so many hurting people in the world -- they may just happen to set foot in your living room or your church building. What will you offer them? I suggest the model of 1 Thess 5:11 "encourage one another and build each other up."
So, to answer the question: Are small groups significant and important? The answer is absolutely yes! I dare you to find out for yourself. Contact Sarah for ideas:
