They decided to have a competition to see who would get to sleep on the couches in the youth room. So I suggested guys vs. girls whoever raises the most for Speed The Light. We just finished this week. The girls won but total we raised a little over $300. Can't wait to see what else will happen this next year.

The goal of this event was to raise money for Speed the Light and to create an atmosphere of fellowship with our church. The event was more than successful.

To enter it was $20/per chili, or $30/per 2 chili's from the same household. We charged $5/person for all-you-can-eat chili. The church provided the necessities like cups, plates, and silverware, but also provided the toppings for the chili. We had three women in the congregation donate food to help with the event.

Each chili had a name and spice level card next to it. The chilis remained anonymous as we brought in three surprise judges to judge the contest: District Youth Directors Darin and Marleen Stroud, and Youth Alive Missionary, Travis Dumond.

We raised $638.00 for STL through chili entries, tip jars, and price per person to eat. But not only did we raise money for STL, but we had a great time doing it. It was an event we hope to do for many more years to come.

We had broken even on them and so I challenged our kids with a competition to see who could sell the most so we could be able to give the profit to STL this year. I had one student, Lyndi Hoit, who just took this thing and ran with it. She went door to door though the neighborhoods and sold $580 worth of thrash bags by herself! Proud of her and just wanted to share with you her hard work and accomplishment.

I brought the Kindles for Cuba Project before them, and thanks to the congregation AND largely to our students we raised over $1,400 on Sunday! I am so proud of our youth, they have worked so hard! That brings our total to $1,700 for the kindles! I am so happy that we can help reach those in Cuba!

Prior to this, I had been driving a 2000 Ford Windstar in which the gauges had stopped functioning properly; therefore, to know my speed, I had to utilize a Garmin. Additionally, the Ford Fusion will get a lot better gas mileage as I got approximately 33 miles per gallon coming over from Springfield.

Thank you STL for a sound vehicle to fulfill the call God has given us to take the message of Freedom (Jn 8:36) to men whose lifestyles have led to crime, drugs and incarceration. Though the man is physically locked up, the message of Freedom does impact the human heart and transforms his thinking from one of destruction, to one of production, as he realizes that God can forgive and that He has a future filled with purpose and HOPE (Jer. 29:11) for them!

We wanted to focus our night around an event that would raise money for Speed The Light. Locally owned Christian businesses donated a car, sledge hammer, bats and eye protection. We advertised it to the entire church and had people from 5 to 50 years old hitting the car and supporting STL. We charged $1 for two hits on metal and $5 for two hits on glass. The goal in our pricing was two make it cheep enough so that people would want to spend lots of money. Altogether, in only one hour of car bashing we raised a total of $485 in one hour for STL. Needless to say, our Back To School Bash was a "smashing hit." Because of this event, we had many visitors come that night and several of those have been coming to CSM since then.

We have been wonderfully blessed here in Mexico with this vehicle. Our STL vehicles have been an absolute blessing. They have indeed sped the light of the Gospel. We traveled everywhere the brethren wanted us to go in Peru and then after we left the Shinning Path guerrillas came in. God caused us to use our STL vehicle to get the Gospel out---just in the nick of time. The Kansas Youth have truly been a wonderful team with us.

You added to the God-honoring legacy that AG youth have been creating for decades in the cause of Jesus’ mission to earth and His Great Commission to us. What a support to reach the lost is provided by the vast STL youth army – who themselves are sharing the light of the Gospel as missionaries to their campuses!

They crossed Dominican/Haitian Border this week and we’re praying they got through the border without problems. They are taking two Speed the Light cars full of supplies and the Latin America Childcare truck also full of supplies. Their goal is to meet and encourage our missionaries that live there and to assess the damage to our Assembly of God churches and schools. A couple friends and I had a few bake sales and raised quite a bit of money. Then In October, I walked a marathon (I am NEVER doing that again!) and raised over $600. By Youth Convention, I still had another $300 to go and I didn't think that I would be able to raise the rest of the money. God spoke through other people encouraging me and telling me that I could do it. On December 6th, I had another bake sale and raised the rest of the money. (By the way, I'm never baking again either. Ugh!) Raising all this money was a big trust God thing. God has been doing so much in my life lately. I know this is just one small thing He's done to prepare me for greater things".
